How Custom Orthotics can fix Heel Spurs

A Heel Spurs is a small deposit of calcium that has accumulated on the bottom of one’s heel bone. Heel Spur pain is often described as a sharp object stabbing through the bottom of the heel, but can also cause Plantar Fasciitis, which is sharp-achy pain experienced when first standing up after sleep or sitting for a prolonged time. Heel Spurs are common among athletes who engage in high-activity movements such as running or jumping that puts strain on the muscles and ligaments of the feet. By continually damaging the muscles and ligaments of the foot, Heel Spurs may develop over months of years.

In the vast majority of cases, non-surgical treatment is the preferred method as it is less invasive, and maintains significantly lower risk in a complete and healthy recovery. Custom Orthotics are strongly recommended that are designed to accommodate the Heel Spur and further, to prevent further damage to muscles and ligaments that encourage Heel Spur growth. Custom Orthotics are both corrective (will eliminate pain associate with Heel Spurs and other foot conditions), while also preventative.

    Attention to Detail:

Custom Orthotic Assessments take roughly 45 minutes and are performed by our award-winning Chiropractor: Dr. Tammy Yuen.

Our detailed assessment includes a health history taking, physical-functional analysis, gait assessment, and finally a semi-weight bearing foam moulding of your feet.

We then will go over with you the various extra options to further customize your orthotics (i.e. for general use, high athletic use, boots, or even in heels!).

Once our assessment is done, manufacturing time is roughly two weeks, at which point, your othotics will be ready for pick-up!
